Here at Sywell Aerodrome, in Northamptonshire, we offer all aspects of RT training, including courses and Examining for the issue of the Flight Radiotelephony Operator's Licence (FRTOL), whether you fly microlights, light aircraft, helicopters, hot air balloons, paramotors, or you are not a pilot but require an RT licence.
Our RTF Examiner, Irwin Baker, has many years of experience taking students through from the basics to the standard required to pass the exams necessary to obtain a FRTOL. All training is done in a friendly environment and designed to support you through the whole process whatever your level of experience.
FRTOL Examination and Test Requirements:
1. Pass a theoretical written PPL Communications examination, and
2. Pass a practical RTF Communications test. (the candidate is required to have a pass in the written examination prior to attempting the practical test)
RT Ground School & RT Courses:
Ground school training to help prepare you for the written and practical examinations is not a requirement, but most people find it very beneficial. This can be done in the form of one-on-one sessions, or on a course with other students. Studying with other students can be a great way of learning the art of radiotelephony, especially during the practical elements, and it also keeps the costs down. Most people also opt to do a mock practical test before attempting the real test, and this would be done one-on-one.
